Is it Time to Say 'CU' to UC?
For something that was meant to be ‘The Next Big Thing’, a large number of organizations would tell you from experience that unified communications (UC) has become a bit of a poisoned chalice. For too long, the fatal flaw with UC’s promised benefits were that they would only materialize if you stuck mostly with one vendor and were able to pay whatever price they asked you to pay. UC-related buzzwords like integration, transparency and collaboration were reserves of branding teams, and didn’t actually translate in practical terms.
Fortunately, however, times are changing. A new way of thinking about UC is emerging, one that recognizes the value of real collaboration, cross-vendor compatibility and fair and transparent price plans.
