Game of Softphones: Bria 3 vs. Bria 5

White Raven from the Game of Thrones

White ravens are being sent to every corner of the world from the CounterPath headquarters. Unlike in Westeros (from Game of Thrones, of course) where the white raven signals winter has finally arrived, CounterPath ravens are announcing that Bria 5 is here! This may not be news to all (like the Starks know about winter) but Bria 5 is now available for purchase or upgrade. Why does it matter? Users of Bria 3 cling to their trusty old softphones, but they don’t know what they're missing out on.

A clean, modern, and more usable UI

A sword no matter how it looks is a dangerous weapon in the right hands. However, the details and craftsmanship are what make a Valyrian steel sword more desirable than one that the average Flea Bottom blacksmith can make. Like the master blacksmiths, CounterPath has fine-tuned the UI of Bria 5 to be as familiar as Bria 3 but far more superior in function, look and usability. Interactive elements are now larger and easier to read as well more usable on touch enabled devices. More information like your contacts’ avatars are now displayed for better recognition. In addition, the overall layout is more streamlined making more efficient use of space.

Bria 5 vs Bria 3 layout comparison

Bria has truly become a complete UC solution and the best softphone for business - and doing so has led to a focus on instant messaging. The UI for messaging has undergone a complete overhaul since Bria 3. Individual windows for each conversation and archive have been reduced to a single threaded-view window. Moving to a single window UI, has made messaging a powerful tool for communication. Your text communication between different parties are just clicks away on the same screen. We have made the experience more personal, with support for inline avatars, rich images and web thumbnails. You want to share the latest King’s Tournament results with your coworker? See the headline image right in your window when you send the web link. Hilarious GIFs of the jester animate as well!

It’s changes like these that make Bria 5 better than Bria 3.

True 1080p full screen video support

The world is HD, so your softphone should be as well. Bria now supports 1080p HD video for your calls. With a supported camera and sufficient bandwidth, your video calling comes alive with the highest resolution video possible. HD coupled with Bria’s full screen video creates a face-to-face experience that is just like talking in person. Just remember to be presentable when video calling your king or queen!

Collaboration Tool and Video Conference, even them do it!

World's best performance and compatibility

It is known. CounterPath’s Bria is the best softphone. Our voice and media engine is best in class for compatibility and works in almost every SIP-enabled environment out there. Corporations depend on Bria and this latest version includes enhanced technology for their enjoyment. We have had users take Bria on international flights and successfully make crystal clear calls!

CounterPath is a regular attendee of SIPit, a small council of SIP developers, who periodically test their products with others in the VoIP world. We’re proud of the fact that we attend these gatherings and keep up to date with the latest in SIP, so our users can have the best phone interoperability. Since Bria 3, over 2,000 issues and improvements have been made to the SIP and media engine alone. While invisible to the naked eye, each of these changes makes Bria 5 the best version of Bria yet. That’s almost four years of enhancements to calling and messaging!

Don’t be let down by outdated software. Our latest work is the best yet, and it's only getting better!
